USS Flier (SS-250)
Memorial Ceremony
The memorial ceremony for the men of USS Flier
was held on
August 12-13, 2010, at the Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Museum (GLNMM),
located in Muskegon, Michigan.
GLNMM is the home of the historic submarine USS Silversides, which is
of the same class and general appearance as USS Flier. An exhibit
dedicated to Flier is under development at the Museum.
USS Silversides is the most decorated
surviving submarine from World War II, and is a
floating tribute to the many men who remain “on
eternal patrol.”
Rear Admiral Michael J. Yurina (photo below) was the keynote speaker
at the Ceremony.
